So many people have told me that they injure themselves while sleeping, and most of the time I don't believe them. I should because I'm sure I have injured my knee while rolling over in my sleep, my foot caught under the tightly tucked in sheets. I have also injured my neck by falling asleep sitting up, book or tablet resting on my lap. My experience with my aches and pains usually stem from my history, rather present and possibly bleak future, with osteoarthritis.
Recently my thumb has been causing me grief, the joint where the hand meets thumb being quite painful. I have attributed it to overuse, bending it back too far and reinjuring it daily. This is resulting in osteoarthritis (OA) in that joint. I have a brace but it is quite clunky. It is good to wear overnight, avoiding the infamous unconscious hyperextension injury.
My new favourite show on cable is Better Things, on FXX, and noticed the main character, played by Pamela Adlon, has the same problem. She wears a cool brace on her wrist. In looked it up and discovered that the actor actually suffers from OA in her thumb and it was written into her character's story. Anyways, searching on-line I found the exact brace and am thinking about ordering it. It is less clunky and I can wear a cool glove over it at work, and it is waterproof... Bonus!

I digress... So these night slumber injuries can occur, even if I don't believe other people's stories about their bizarre surprise accidents. On that note, I woke up this morning with a pinched nerve in my neck. I have been known to be incredibly lazy when it comes to rolling over in bed. I have caught myself half-awake rolling over by using my head to stabilize my upper body while I shift my lower body, then rolling my upper body last. Please don't ask me why I do this. It is most likely due to weak core muscles, my bad. This weirdo body contorting to simply roll over results in me straining my neck.
Yes, that's right, all from just rolling over. Currently my head is stuck in one general position, my range of motion pretty small. I've used my magic bag draped over my shoulders, heating up my muscles all over the back of my neck. I've laid on a couple of tennis balls under my neck while listening to Chris Cuomo ranting on CNN. I also took some Naproxen, looking up that it is ideal for this ailment. I hope I'm not asymptomatic for Covid 19 because Ibuprofen is NOT ideal for the aches of the virus, making the 2020 plague worse! All had done very little, leading me to simply rest.

Good, God! I must be getting old. My whole blog is about complaining about my ailments. Am I running out of things to write about? Possibly. Only time will tell. See ya next time. Hopefully my neck won't hurt so much.
Hey this is a pretty fun read...light and funny.
